Formula Fourth Best Option For Babies- Where Did This Information Come From?

Friday 3 September 2010 @ 3:11 am

Not here to start a debate. Just curious where this came from. I’ve heard on here that 1st best option is human milk from mother from breast, 2nd & 3rd best options are human milk from breast from a wet nurse and expressed milk given to baby in a bottle, and fourth best is formula.
Where did this originate? Book, article, research…? Thanks

What Is Going On With My Son?!?!?!?

Friday 3 September 2010 @ 12:24 am

He is 11 1/2 months old, has been sleeping through the night since 8 months. All of a sudden the last couple of nights he is waking up at least once, or twice a night. I usually let him cry for 10 minutes and if he doesn’t settle on his own I go in and give him a bottle. Then he goes right back to sleep. I have tried going in and just rocking him, but he has never liked to be rocked, he just thrashes around and screams harder while scratching at my face…
So, I am wondering could this be a growth spurt?? Is it teething? (He just cut 2 new teeth and looks like there is another one coming) If it is teething, why would a bottle settle him? Could he just be thirsty? Is it just a phase, I have just gone back to work, and not used to getting up in the night anymore, but I know its all part of it :) Just wanting some suggestions please other mama’s!!

Paranormal Activities At My Uncles, Anybody Don’t Mind Helping?might Be Challenging And Sort Of Long?

Thursday 2 September 2010 @ 6:15 pm

Okay, so the thing is, my uncle rents a house in Grange Moor Avenue in Dublin. He lives there for around two years and haven’t saw, heard or felt anything not normal. From the past four weeks though, he had recently heard footsteps walking slowly around the house(Jeez, I’m getting freaked out here). Normally the ‘ghost’ opens a door to my cousin’s room and walks around the house, down the stairs and walks around there. He/she hasn’t caused any damage, or didn’t seem aggressive at all. He just did this everyday, didn’t matter if my uncle was alone or with other people, they all heard it. Then, I think last week my baby cousin started screaming crying and nobody knows why. My aunt checked if she needs a nappy change, is sick, or wants something to eat but she was all right. Just few days ago my uncle’s Labrador started to bark at a wall. He is a very well behaved dog and never ever did anything like this, until told. Or he barked at the door if he sensed somebody he didn’t know coming, though, he never barked at a blank space as he is 8 years old and grown up. Then out of the bloom, something fell downstairs in the kitchen, a heavy object. My uncle said he was too freaked out to come down stairs so he waited till morning. In the morning he saw the fridge open, with food and milk shattered on the ground. Ever since the ‘ghost’ appeared sometimes my uncle felt incredibly cold at once, even if every else was hot, in a room then suddenly hot. Same with me, my cousin and my aunt. I tried google the area, but I didn’t find anything specific. Any help? My uncle told me about most of it, I experienced the fridge accident and the cold room. Nobody ever saw a person, and the landlady didn’t mention a dead member of the family. Thanks for all answers and sorry for the length XD xx

My Brother Refuses To Grow Up, And It’s Embarrassing. What Can I Do?

Thursday 2 September 2010 @ 6:15 pm

My brother “Steve” is thirteen, but he still acts like a toddler. He plays with neighborhood children who are as young as seven, talks like a baby all the time, plays with baby toys, and throws loud tantrums even in public places. Even worse he thinks it’s fine to walk around the house butt-naked all the time because “kids can do that”. This is really embarrassing not only for me, but for Steven, because my friends have seen him, and to be blunt Steven is very, very small. Naturally everyone in school is aware of that now thanks to the gossip mills.
I know my brother’s smart because he pulls amazing grades at school. But he refuses to grow up and act his own age. I think what bothers me the most is watching him get teased and bullied at school over this. Our dad is absentee, and mom actually thinks his behavior is cute, so she won’t say anything.
I want Steve to be normal for his own sake. I try to get him to hang out with me and my friends, and I involve him in things, but he refuses to take to any of it. What can I do?

Question About Breastfeeding?

Thursday 2 September 2010 @ 6:10 pm

I’m a mom of a 11/2 month old baby and would prefer to give him more breastmilk than formula.. I would actually prefer him taking the milk from my breast as opposed to pumping, but I’m having difficulty as he can only stay on the breast for ten minutes instead of 30 mins as suggested by docs (15 mins) on each breast. I have too much milk and it comes down too fast, my baby can’t keep up so within 10 mins he falls asleep. What should I do about this? I want the best nutrition for my little boy

Floor Time With My Mobile Baby?

Thursday 2 September 2010 @ 6:03 pm

is it really safe to let my baby who puts every toy that she owns into her mouth let it fall on the floor numerous times and keep putting it back into her mouth without having to go rinse it off all day long? are there any moms who actually rinse the toys all day long everytime one touches the floor?

Should You Wake Your Baby In The Middle Of The Night To Eat?

Thursday 2 September 2010 @ 3:15 pm

I’m due in ten weeks and just want opinions of other parents out there. When I was a newborn I ate every 3-4 hours but after two weeks I would sleep through the night. If my mom fed me at 8pm I would eat again at 12am and then she would go to sleep and wake up at 6 or 7 and I would wake up then too and eat right away. Is that safe and healthy? (keep in mind it’s 6 hours without eating but you’d think I’d wake up and cry if I were hungry - I was a healthy baby with no sleeping/eating/sensory problems) I’ve read that you should wake your baby every 2-4 hours to eat even if they will sleep through the night but I also know I was not that way and was perfectly healthy and it worked great for my mom and the sake of her sleep!
** This is IF she sleeps through the night like I did. (:
